Waypoint ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the Waypoint mobile application.

Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

• Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and any optional profile information you provide.
• Usage data: We collect information about how you use Waypoint, including app open frequency, features used, and streak data — stored locally on your device using SharedPreferences.
• Conversation content: When you use the AI companion feature, your messages are sent to Anthropic's API to generate responses. We do not store your conversation history on our servers.
• Journal entries: Your journal entries and highlights are stored locally on your device and are not transmitted to our servers.
• Purchase information: Subscription and purchase data is handled by RevenueCat and the relevant app store (Apple App Store or Google Play). We do not store payment information directly.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide and improve the Waypoint app experience
• To process subscription payments through RevenueCat
• To send daily verse notifications (if you opt in)
• To track your usage streak locally on your device
• To respond to support requests

Third-Party Services

Waypoint uses the following third-party services:

• Anthropic API: Powers the AI companion feature. Your messages are processed by Anthropic to generate responses. Please review Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
• RevenueCat: Manages subscriptions and purchases. Please review RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
• Apple App Store / Google Play: Handles app distribution and in-app purchases under their respective privacy policies.

Data Storage

Most of your personal data — including journal entries, highlights, streak data, and preferences — is stored locally on your device. We do not maintain a central server that stores your personal Bible study content.

Data We Do Not Collect

• We do not sell your data to third parties
• We do not display advertisements
• We do not collect your location
• We do not access your contacts, camera, or microphone (unless you explicitly grant permission for a specific feature)

Children's Privacy

Waypoint is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Opt out of notifications at any time through your device settings
• Export your locally stored data (journal entries, highlights) from within the app

Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email. Continued use of Waypoint after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
